How long do I need to wait to get a decision in the mail from an ALJ?
- After your hearing, on average, its takes between 3-4 months for a decision in the mail; however, some judges take up to 9 months to release a decision. We recommend you call us at 3.5 months for an update on your claim, as we can log into your online SSA account, and see if the administrative law judge’s brief was uploaded. Seems like a long time right?! This is because after an ALJ decision, you receive a complete brief in the mail, which takes a considerable amount of time for the government’s attorney to write. These are some things that could make your claim take a bit longer for a decision:
- Post Hearing Medical Evidence
- Tax Evidence Issues
- Vocational Evidence Issues
- Submitting Additional Relevant Evidence
