How powerful is a social security disability SSI SSDI listing?

Have you ever played the game shoots and ladders?  If you roll the dice in a positive way, you climb a ladder towards your goal, and if you roll negatively, you slide downward away from the goal of the game.  A listing is like a ladder directly to a finding of disability.  You could say, it’s the ultimate game winning ladder.  The only kicker is that having medical equivalency to a disability listing, means that you are really, truly, severely disabled.
